The UMFK offense kept VTC on their heals for most of the day in a season opening 10-0 win Saturday in Fort Kent

The UMFK men's soccer teamed opened their regular season with a 10-0 win over Vermont Tech in a USCAA match-up from Fort Kent, Maine. The Bengals (1-0) will return to action on Monday at 1pm vs. Holland College (PEI, Canada). VTC faces Holland College (PEI, Canada) at 1pm Sunday in a neutral site game in Fort Kent.

BOX SCORE - On Saturday, in the men’s home and regular season opener, forwards Ben Kluvers (Fr., Chicago, IL) and Kennard Brown (Jr., St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) each had two goals in an assist to lead a balanced UMFK attack. Sophomore midfielder Ashlee Davis (Johannesburg, South Africa) came off the Bengal bench and scored three times on the day and Ross Downie (So., Edinburgh, Scotland), Matias Gandulfo (Salta, Argentina) and Willie Monthe (Jr., Metz, France) each added a score on the day for UMFK.

VTC keepers Darian Calverley (Attleboro, MA) and Logan Heald (St. Albans, VT) combined to make eleven saves on thirty five Bengal shots. Jamie Cleland (Fr., Dunfermline, Scotland) started in goal for UMFK before giving way to Alex Caballero (Jr., Orono, Maine) in the 73rd minute. Neither UMFK goalie was forced to make a save on the day as UMFK out-shot VTC 35-0.
