The U-Maine Fort Kent women’s basketball team opened the second semester and the New Year with a tough home loss to NAIA D2 Houghton College 84-62 Wednesday evening in Fort Kent.
Arcilla Jeffers, who returned to action with UMFK after a two year hiatus, came of the UMFK bench to lead UMFK with 13 points. Maliesha Caesar added 12 points and 6 rebounds and Jenn Colpitts had 11 points and 4 assists on the night.
Houghton (7-4) had 20 offensive rebounds which led to 24 points off of second chance opportunities. UMFK was down just nine at the break but the second chance baskets proved too much to overcome.
