The Daemen College women’s basketball team used a strong second half to break open a tight game at halftime as they stayed undefeated on the year beating U-Maine Fort Kent 78-58 at the Bengal Classic Sunday afternoon in Fort Kent, Maine.
Daemen improved to 7-0 received 50 votes in the NAIA D2 Pre-Season Polls and will most likely break into the top 25 when the first poll is released this week. The Lady Bengals battled the Wildcats for much of the first half until the visitors were able to close out the first 20 minutes on a 7-0 run to go up eight. UMFK (0-2) would get no closer in the second as Daemen wore out UMFK with depth and quality shooting.
UMFK was led by freshmen Ericka Christensen (Warren, Maine) for the second straight game who had 15 points and eight boards while sophomore Taylor Boucher (Fort Kent) came of the Lady Bengal bench to knock down four of five three pointers on her way to 14.
